Samoa has four National Age Grade Teams that provide opportunities for the young athletes to enhance their rugby career in order to reach the Manu Samoa or other professional rugby career overseas. The existence of these four teams are solely determined by the international competition and tournament organized and conducted by the IRB.
Samoa Under 21 The Samoa U’21 team provided development opportunities and act as a testing ground for Samoa’s young talented players. Samoa U’21 competed in the FORU U21 tournament and then in the IRB World Championship Tournament. The first Samoa U’21 team was selected in 1992 and annually after that since 2004.  Eventually, it will be replaced by the Samoa U’20 team in respect of the tournaments organised by the IRB.
Samoa Under 20 Samoa U20’s is like the U21 team in that it provides development opportunities and act as testing ground for Samoa’s young talented players. A particular player’s progress is monitored and managed in the best interests of the player’s own development. Samoa Under 20 existed for the first time this year 2008, as the substitution to the Under 21.
Samoa Under 19 Formerly known as Samoa Schools Representative Team, the U19’s was established in 1978 but only became a fixture after 1988. In 2006 the U19 won division ‘B’ of the IRB World Championships this than, promoted them to division ‘A’ in the recent U19 World Championship.  They are now ranked fifth in the World ranking.
Samoa Under 18 Samoa Under 18 recently competed in the FORU Under 18 competition, to gain qualification to the Under 19 World Championship. FORU tournament is a regional organized tournament for Oceania region. Samoa won the FORU Under 18 Championship in 2003, 2005, and 2006. Samoa Under 18 was first selected in 2003.
