YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea – He didn’t deviate much from the game plan of the first four games of the season, Seoul American coach Billy Ratcliff said. His Falcons simply executed better Friday in capturing their long-awaited first victory of the 2010 season.
Sidney Malauulu and Adrian Thomas each scored two touchdowns as Seoul (1-4 overall, 1-2 DODDS Korea) routed Osan American, 41-6, the Falcons’ first regular-season victory since a 24-0 shutout of Osan on Oct. 18, 2008.
“Nice to get the monkey off our back,” Ratcliff said, adding that his Falcons did the fundamentals better than they had in their previous four contests.
“We scored on offense, defense and special teams. We blocked and we tackled. I didn’t do anything differently. They just held their blocks and they tackled.”
With Osan (0-4, 0-2) now unable to catch defending DODDS Korea champion Daegu American, the Warriors clinched their school-first second straight league title without having to take the field. Daegu coach Ken Walter could not be immediately reached for comment.
Malauulu ran for touchdowns of 43 and 4 yards, and Harold Martin tossed touchdown passes of 60 yards to Thomas and 32 yards to Tommy Akinbayo. Antoine Daniels capped the scoring with a 30-yard interception-return TD.
