Ana Tuiaea-Ruud is the Director of Academic Support Services after being promoted in 2009. She originally was hired in 2007 as an Academic Coordinator.
Her responsibilities include monitoring the academic progress for Football, Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, and Soccer while supervising assistance for all other sports. She also is the tutor coordinator for the athletic department and coordinates the yearly Scholar-Athlete Banquet and new Student-Athlete orientations in the fall.
"I am honored to be a part of such an outstanding University and Athletic Department.," Tuiaea-Ruud said. "Athletics have always been a part of who I am, and I am personally dedicated to the academic and athletic success of each student-athlete at the University of Idaho."
She came to Idaho from Central Washington University where she was the head assistant women’s basketball coach for the past six years. She helped guide CWU to three NCAA Division II Tournaments and her primary responsibilities included academics, conditioning, and post player development.
She graduated from Central Washington in June 2007 with a master’s degree in Athletic Administration.
She was a standout basketball player for the University of Washington and played in two NCAA Tournaments (1997, 1998). She also played for the Samoan Women’s National Basketball Team in 1999 for Olympic Trials in San Diego.
She married Jason Ruud in 1998 and they have one daughter, Malia.
