#24 Derisa Taleni Idaho Vandals

2010-11: Derisa has started all 12 games through the first two months of the season...was named to the Oregon Invitational all-tournament team...averages 9.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game...had a career-high eight assists in the season opener against Eastern Oregon on Nov. 13...has had five or more assists in five games...Derisa has scored in double figures six times on the season, scoring a season-high 17 points with a season-high nine rebounds against Wyoming on Dec. 4.
2009-10: Taleni suffered a season-ending knee injury during preseason practice and took a medical redshirt for the season.
2008-09: Taleni erupted onto the Western Athletic Conference scene as a junior...she led all WAC newcomers and ranked fourth overall with a 14.5 scoring average and stormed her way to the WAC Newcomer of the Year award...dropped 31 points on Utah State on Jan. 5, spurred by 5-of-6 shooting from long range, to give her the top single-game scoring effort in the conference for the year...that performance was also the ninth 30-point game in Cowan Spectrum history and fourth-best overall, while her five 3-pointers made are tied for second in Spectrum history...scored double-digits 21 times and scored more than 20 points four times during the season...tallied two double-doubles during the year and also led the team with 56 steals...her 175 rebounds, 56 steals and 54 assists all ranked second on the team for the year.
Junior College: In her two years at De Anza College, Taleni was a two-time team captain, team MVP, South Coast All-Conference and all-state selection...in 2008 as a sophomore, she was the South Coast Conference MVP and was a first-team all-state selection for California after leading the Dons to a perfect 12-0 league record and title...Taleni also broke the De Anza school record for single-game points as a sophomore with 43 and earned a silver medal with the American Samoa National Team at the South Pacific Games in 2007.
Personal: She is the daughter of Taleni, Jr. and Katherine Taleni...she has five sisters, Salaia, Angel, Dacia, Dara and Rebecca, and two brothers, Dominiq and Dalen...her sister Salaia played volleyball for Nevada, her uncle Okland Salave'a played football for Colorado and her uncle Joe Salave'a played football in the NFL for the eight seasons...she is a 2006 graduate of Wilcox High School in Santa Clara, Calif... majoring in Sociology at Idaho.
