Watch this Tongan flyer

Too hot to handle ... Trading his rugby boots for a pair of spikes is Loketi Manu who will test his speed in the under-14 100 and 200-metre events. Picture: ELIKI NUKUTABU

LOKETI Manu played rugby all his life and switched to athletics because he runs too fast.

In fact, too fast for his wingers back in Tongatapu.

"This boy has been in rugby from small and is very fast," said Tongan official Simi.

"He plays at first-five-eighth but runs away from his own wings.

"So we decided to might as well try him on the tracks and brought him for the Chow Games."

Manu, 14, will run in the boys' 100m and 200m.
