The US is dominating the Samoa Bowl competitions so far with their baseball and volleyball teams coming ahead of their competitors.
In baseball, Team US dominated both Samoa, beating Samoa 16-1 in 7 innings and American Samoa 4-1 in 9 innings.
Today’s game has Samoa going up against American Samoa to complete the round robin competition.
In volleyball, the California All Star Girls Team is leading with an undefeated record after beating Hawaii and American Samoa.
In men’s play, both California and American Samoa are tied with a win and a loss each after two games played.
For softball, more than 40 local girls and coaches have been participating since Tuesday in clinics conducted by softball stars, siblings Stephanie, Keilani and Samantha Ricketts.
American Samoa Softball Association leader Larry Sanitoa says the girls are learning a great deal not only in technique but also pitching and outfield and infield drills. He said the clinics are going well and he’s pleased with the turnout.
The Samoa Bowl main event is the football game between American Samoa and Hawaii, which will be held on Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Stadium.
