Te'o named to Lott Trophy Watch List May, 7, 2012 May 7 3:50 PM ET By Matt Fortuna | ESPN.com

The last time we were talking about Manti Te'o and the Lott IMPACT Trophy, Notre Dame received good news.

Te'o may not have won the trophy -- which measures the personal character of the nation's top defensive player --but he announced his return to school at the Dec. 11 awards ceremony in Newport Beach, Calif.

The Irish senior linebacker won't need to make any such declarations again this December, but he has a chance to make it back to the Pacific Club, as he was one of 42 players named to the award's watch list Monday, joining six other nominees from 2011.

Te'o is one of 18 linebackers on the list, which includes 13 defensive backs and 11 defensive lineman. The ninth trophy will be awarded Dec. 9. Boston College's Luke Kuechly won it last season.
