Malia Marquardt Arizona State Sun Devils Volleyball
ASU: Athletic outside who returns to ASU as a junior after transferring from BYU...will compete for starting OH duties in the 2010 season.
2009 (Sophomore): Jumped in for an immediate impact playing in 53 sets and finishing the season fifth on the team in kills with 87 for a 1.64 kills per set average... was also seventh on the squad in blocks with 49 total blocks... posted a career high 12 kills at Montana Sept, 12... also posted a career-high eight blocks against UCLA on Sept. 25 to help lead ASU to a three-game sweep of the Bruins.
BYU: Played in 55 matches as a freshman outside...collected 106 kills on the year while posting eight assists and five service aces... on defense Malia collected 68 digs and 58 blocks, one solo on the season.
Personal: An exploratory major... parents are Peter (CPA) and Betty Ann Marquardt of Vista, Calif... comes from an athletic family... father played football at UCLA, mother swam for UNLV, had four brothers play collegiate football, Brian (32) played for Weber State, Daniel (29) for BYU, Michael (28) for ASU and Josh (22) for BYU... also enjoys surfing, beach volleyball and Polynesian dance... born May 23, 1990 in Escondido, Calif.
